Never buy overpriced, BPA laden microwavable popcorn. Make yours at home, supereasy.
Ingredients: Popcorn kernels, drizzle of olive oil, salt optional.
- Drizzle olive oil in a pot over medium on the stove.
- Add kernels to just cover bottom of pot.
- Place lid on and let heat until popping slows to 2-3 seconds between pops. About 2 minutes.
- Turn off heat and dump into bowl. Lightly salt.
Since our new roommate shared this secret of the universe with us when we moved in complaining that we were all out of popcorn and didn’t feel like running to the store and confessing we couldn’t bring ourselves to cut BPA laden microwave popcorn from our diets, my consumption of popcorn has progressively grown until it now feels like popcorn makes up a good quarter of my food intake.
On the plus side, I don’t have to feel bad about it. Whole grain, organic kernels, a little healthy olive oil. The multi-colored grains give the finished product an dynamic visual appeal. The slightly more yellow kernels have the appearance of buttered popcorn. At some level its telling your brain to enjoy a buttery, salty experience. This could change your world as it has mine.
